Commission and Pricing Updates 2026
Starting March 9, 2026, we are updating our commission rate and adjusting the client-facing price ranges in the request funnel. We know this is a meaningful change, and we want to make sure you have all the information you need.
1. Commission Update
Starting March 9, 2026, the commission for new bookings will move to 20%.
- New Requests: Any request received and booked on or after the effective date will have a 20% commission applied.
- Prior Bookings: Any booking created before the effective date will be processed at the 18% commission rate, regardless of when the service takes place.
2. Funnel Price Adjustment (5%)
To reflect current market conditions and help you manage your margins, we are increasing the suggested price ranges shown to clients in the request funnel by 5%.
3. Action Required: Review Your Menu Prices
Take a Chef will not automatically change your menu prices. You maintain full control over your rates, but you must ensure they align with the new funnel ranges:
- Manual Adjustments: We recommend reviewing your menus now to ensure your prices stay within the new suggested ranges.
- To find the current price ranges for your location, go to your Dashboard under Request Settings.
- To adjust them, access your Dashboard, navigate to Gastronomic Proposal, then open the Menus section and update each menu accordingly.
- Proposal Constraints: If your menu price falls below the new minimum range, the platform will require you to adjust it manually before you can submit a proposal to a client.
- Automatic Offer: If you’re a Pro user and your menu price falls outside the new range, automatic proposals will not be sent until you manually update your prices to bring them back within range.
4. Frequently Asked Questions:
Why is the commission changing?
This update allows us to continue investing in Take a Chef as a platform — improving the client experience, increasing the quality of demand, and expanding our team dedicated to enhancing our specialized product.
How does this affect my payout?
To help protect your margins, we have increased the suggested price ranges shown to clients in the request funnel by 5%.
- Bookings before March 9, 2026: These carry a 18% commission rate.
- Bookings on or after March 9, 2026: These carry a 20% commission rate. By aligning your menu prices with the new 5% funnel increase, you can offset the commission change, maintain your current margins, and potentially increase your earnings per booking.
Why are funnel prices increasing by 5%?
The 5% increase reflects current market conditions and is designed to give you the room to adjust your rates to offset the commission change, without losing competitiveness.
Do I need to update my menu prices manually?
Yes. In line with our vision of giving you full control over your business, Take a Chef will not automatically change your prices. You are responsible for reviewing and updating your menus through your Dashboard, in the Menus section.
Please remember that your prices can still be up to 20% above or below the ranges shown in Request Settings, and your proposals will continue to be sent within that margin.
Note: If a menu price falls below the new minimum range, the platform will prompt you to update it before you can submit a new proposal.
What if I have Automatic Offer enabled?
If you are a Pro chef and your menu price falls outside the new minimum range, automatic proposals will not be sent until you manually update your prices to bring them within range. We recommend reviewing your menus before the effective date to avoid any interruption to your automatic offers.
What happens to bookings I’ve already confirmed?
Any booking created before March 9, 2026 will be processed at the 18% commission rate, regardless of when the actual service takes place. The new 20% rate only applies to new requests received after the change.
Please note: changing the service date will not affect the commission rate. However, if a booking is cancelled and a new one is created, the new 20% rate will apply. In the same way, adding additional guests to an existing booking will not change the commission either, even if those guests are added after the change date.
Will this impact my ranking or visibility?
No. These updates are strictly related to the tools and commission structure. Your ranking remains tied to your performance, client reviews, and the quality of the experiences you provide.
Do I need to do anything right now?
We recommend reviewing your menu pricing. Ensuring your rates are aligned with the new 5% funnel increase now will prevent any interruptions when you try to send proposals to clients after the effective date.
